REFUND POLICY
All entries are non-refundable. NO Refunds or Rollovers will be offered for any non-pandemic reason.

PANDEMIC & LOW ENTRY POLICY
In the case of cancellation due to pandemic, very low registrations, or other acts of god, no refunds will be available, but all entries, will be honored at the next available date to operate the event.

**In the event that a participant is unable to pick up their race package (i.e. out-of-town participants), the Race Committee will allow a friend or family member to pick up the package on their behalf.

9:00am  St. Patrick's Island Park Race Site Open to all athlete
*note:  Please do not arrive until 15 minutes prior to your start

10:00am Half Marathon START
10:15am 10km Run START
10:30am 5Km Run START
*There will be no age group awards onsite.

Route Summaries:

21k- 2 LAPS! - From the start athletes turn north on the George C King Bridge, then head EAST along the Bow River Pathway past the Zoo.  Athletes will follow this route as it turns North (now Nosecreek Pathway) to the  5.5k turnaround point (500m past the 5k turnaround).  Athletes will return along the same route to the turnaround point on the north side of the George C King Bridge.  Another full lap and return to the finish!

10kAthletes will follow the same route as the 21k, but turnaround at the 5k mark.   Return the same way to finish!

5k - Athletes will follow the same route as the 21k, but turnaround at the 2.5k mark.   Return the same way to finish!


PARKING

Participants of the First Responders Half Marathon are encouraged to walk, cycle and take transit to St. Patrick’s Island. Pedestrian and cyclist access is available from East Village along George C King bridge and from Bridgeland along Baines Bridge. Vehicle parking is available in the East Village and limited spots are available in the parking lot on the east end of St. Patrick’s Island. This parking lot is accessed via Baines Bridge from Memorial Drive eastbound.  Regular parking rates apply.

BIB NUMBERS
Bib numbers contain information specific to you as a runner. Please ensure bib numbers are worn on the front and are visible by Race Marshals.

TIMING
Chip timing will be used for all participants.

FLUID/AID STATIONS
*This is a cup-free event.  

Though the race will have aid stations, runners will need to bring their own form of hydration container to refill. We will have cups filled at stations, but it will be the athletes responsibility to pickup.

There will be a water station at the finish line for all athletes, one at the 2.5k point (5k turnaround), 5k point (10k turnaround) and at the 21k turnaround

PRE/POST RACE EVENTS
To be held at the race site in St. Patrick's Island Park.  Washroom and change facilities available within this area.
Storage of personal items will be available during the race.  Please do not bring valuables down to the event.

 

AWARDS

Please note that all age group awards are based on chip time, NOT gun time.
All participants will receive a finisher’s medal upon completion. Age Group prizing will be provided for the Half Marathon, 10km and 5km events.  Prizing is awarded three (3) deep for each of the following age groups: Under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.

We will not be providing medals, but will be offering the following:

     1st place - Complimentary entry to the 2024 event!
     2nd place - 50% discount to the 2024 event
     3rd place - 25% discount to the 2024 event

When registration opens for the 2024 event, please contact us to claim your prize.


 EVENT RULES
*rules may change pending local health guidelines.

  1. It is the athletes responsibility to know the course.  The course will be marked with flagging, signage and pylons.  DO NOT expect volunteers at every intersection.  Review your course map, run the route in advance, and add the route to your fitness app to keep you on course!
  2. This is a cup free event.  
  3. Do not arrive at the start/finish area more than 15 minutes before your start time.
  4. Once the race is completed, you will be asked to leave the site. If you want to meet people, it is advisable to meet them elsewhere.
  5. Staff will be wearing masks, and we will be modifying several elements to the event in order to prevent overcrowding and ensure safety for everyone.
  6. Wearing a mask at the start/finish area is highly recommended, but it is not necessary during the race itself.  Please bring a mask for times when you might not be able to properly distance yourself from one another.
  7. The organization reserves the right to expel any participant  who does not comply with the instructions of volunteers and organizers, without warning.
